Horse Fly Rugs are designed to protect the horse from irritation caused by flies, midges and other insects during turnout or exercise, particularly during the spring and summer months, where the number of flies and midges is at its peak. Here at Unicorn Saddlery, we have a fantastic range of Horse Fly Rugs in a range of sizes and styles to suit all horses and ponies.
Horse Fly Rugs are made from fine mesh material, usually knitted polyester, which makes them both lightweight and breathable, to keep your horse cool during the warmer weather, whilst still providing maximum protection from flies and insects for the horse at grass.

Most designs also feature neck covers, belly flaps and large tail flaps to offer maximum coverage and protect sensitive areas of the horse’s body. Our range also includes Flyrider products, which is a Flysheet designed to fit under a saddle, allowing your horse to be protected from flies during exercise.
Horse Fly Rugs are an excellent idea for any horse or pony suffering from Sweet Itch, a skin condition caused by midges. By protecting your horse from insect bites and midges with a Flysheet, you can control and minimise the irritation to Sweet Itch prone horses and ponies. Some designs can also be used as a barrier to the sun, protecting your horse from the sun’s harmful UV rays, which is particularly useful for sensitive or pale-skinned horses prone to sunburn.
