A new rule affecting the usage of whips and spurs for all British Showjumping (BSJ) members was introduced at the beginning of the year, January 1, 2020.
Officials working groups and the National Sport Committee looked at the current legislation across Equestrian sport and racing to discuss and implement this new rule change.
Iain Graham, the British Showjumping, CEO said: “As a national governing body of equestrian sport, one of our primary objectives is to ensure equine welfare is always paramount and we see the introduction of this rule as a positive way of meeting this”.
