Brewers yeast is a natural by-product of the beer fermentation process and a firm favourite for horse owners. Ground into a fine power, it is packed with high levels of complex B vitamins, minerals and essential amino acids, all nutrients essential for keeping horses healthy and in particular, happy.
The benefits of feeding brewers yeast include:
- Full of amino acids which can help maintain a healthy gut flora. This is known to support hind-gut digestion of dry matter and fibre, and the absorption of essential nutrients
- Provides minerals such as copper and zinc, as well as a range of B vitamins essential in maintaining healthy skin, coat condition, hooves and eyes
- The combination of B vitamins and minerals is also known to help the nervous system, balancing behaviours which may be linked to stress, anxiety and mareishness
- Linked with improving feed palatability, encouraging horses to finish the feed they are given
- Finally, brewers yeast is linked with soothing skin discomfort and itching after midge bites.

Where are Bates saddles from?
Bates is an Australian company, founded in Perth in 1934 by George Bates. It's still family-owned and sells saddles in more than 30 countries.
What is the Bates EasyChange gullet system?
EasyChange lets you change the width of a Bates saddle by swapping the gullet. On most saddles made since 2010, the gullet is reached by removing two external screws.
Can I change the gullet on a Bates saddle myself?
The swap itself is straightforward, but choosing the right width is the hard part. Have a qualified saddle fitter assess your horse before you change it.
What is CAIR?
CAIR is Bates' cushion system, used in the panels of many Bates saddles as an alternative to wool flocking. Bates advises against removing it.
Are Bates and Wintec the same company?
Bates and Wintec are separate brands owned by the same group, Saddlery Brands International.
Can you fit a Bates saddle to my horse?
