For over 30 years, Cheval Liberté has been building horse trailers that put the horse first. French-engineered and built to last, every model in the range shares the same DNA: Pullman suspension for a smoother ride, anodised aluminium panelling that shrugs off the weather, and a roof and front end moulded as one piece for strength and insulation. It's why so many riders choose Cheval Liberté when they're ready to travel.
At Unicorn, we stock a wide selection of the range, from the Touring Country XL with Tack Room, our best-selling double trailer built for two 17hh horses, right through to the larger Maxi models for those wanting extra space and adjustable partitioning. Every trailer we sell can be seen and walked around at our Taunton showroom, with our team on hand to talk through stall widths, loading options and which model actually suits your horse and your car.
Buying a trailer isn't a decision to rush. If you're still weighing up your options, our team has supported, sold and serviced these trailers and can talk you through the practical differences between a Touring model and a Maxi, what tack room space you'll actually use, and what towing weight means for your vehicle. No pressure, just straight answers from people who know the range inside out.

It depends on the model. The Touring Country sits around 850kg unladen with a gross weight of 2,600kg, while the smaller Touring One comes in lighter at roughly 750kg unladen. Always check the plated weight on the specific trailer, and weigh your tow car against it before you buy, since payload and towing capacity vary by vehicle and licence category.
Several models do, including the Touring Country with Tack Room and the larger Touring Country XL with Tack Room. The tack room sits at the front of the trailer and gives you dedicated, dry storage for saddles and kit without taking up stall space. If you don't need the extra storage, standard versions without a tack room are also available.
The Touring Country is Cheval Liberté's best-selling double trailer, built for two horses up to 17.2hh with a straightforward layout and front and rear loading. The Maxi range steps up in size and configuration, with herringbone partitioning across the Maxi 2, 3 and 4 for owners who need to carry more horses or want extra manoeuvring room inside.
Both are well-established names in UK horse trailers, but they take different approaches. Cheval Liberté is best known for its Pullman suspension system, designed to smooth out the ride for the horse, along with anodised aluminium panelling and a moulded one-piece roof and front. Ifor Williams tends to be the more familiar name on British roads, so the right choice usually comes down to budget, weight, and which features matter most to you and your horse.
Unicorn Saddlery stocks a range of Cheval Liberté trailers at our Taunton showroom, where you can view them in person before you buy. Our team can also help with parts, servicing questions and general advice, whether you're weighing up your first trailer or replacing an older model.
