Full Cheek Eggbutt Snaffle
The Full Cheek Eggbutt Snaffle is a fairly mild snaffle bit which encourages straightness in the horse, with its full cheek design helping to reinforce the turning aids. This type of bit may be useful to improve steering and direction in young or resistant horses. The full cheek is also ideal for fast work, as it prevents the mouthpiece sliding across the mouth whilst turning.
The Full Cheek Eggbutt Snaffle features a single jointed mouthpiece, using a 'nutcracker' action to apply pressure to the lips, tongue and the bars of the mouth. The smooth Eggbutt sides of this bit prevent pinching, and this fixed cheek design is also ideal for horses that are unsure of the bit, as there is less movement in the mouth than loose ring designs.
