Product Description
Alfa-A Original from Dengie is chopped alfalfa with a light molasses coating. It is high in fibre and low in starch, with about a tenth of the starch of a typical cool mix, and provides 10 MJ/kg of digestible energy.
Alfalfa is naturally a good source of protein and calcium, which makes Alfa-A popular for horses in work, breeding stock and youngstock that need support for topline and muscle tone. It is straw free and can be fed dry, damp or soaked.
Alfa-A is a straight feed, so add a broad spectrum balancer or vitamin and mineral supplement to complete the ration. It comes in 20kg bags and is available for click and collect from our Taunton store.
Product FAQs
What is Dengie horse feed?
Dengie makes fibre-based horse feeds from alfalfa and grass. The company started as a farmers' cooperative in 1968, is based in Essex, and holds a Royal Warrant as a supplier of horse feed to HM The King.
What's the difference between Dengie Alfa-A and Hi-Fi?
Alfa-A is based on chopped alfalfa and is fed as a fibre source for horses in work. Hi-Fi is designed to replace part of the hay ration and add chewing time, with lighter versions for good doers.
Which Dengie feed is best for a good doer?
Dengie recommends Hi-Fi Lite, Hi-Fi Molasses Free and Meadow Lite with Herbs for good doers and horses in light work. If your horse has had laminitis, speak to your vet before changing its diet.
Which Dengie feed suits an older horse?
Hi-Fi Senior is made for older horses that struggle to chew long fibre. Alfa-A Oil can help horses that need to gain or hold condition.
Which Dengie feeds are molasses free?
We stock Alfa-A Molasses Free, Hi-Fi Molasses Free and Healthy Hooves Molasses Free.
Can I buy Dengie feed online?
